Heineken: Unlocked
The question behind Unlocked is one I've been asking in different forms across every project: what if the interface disappeared entirely? No screen to navigate, no app to download, no instructions to follow. Just an object you already understand — something you own, something you recognize, something that means something to you — and the experience begins the moment you interact with it the way you naturally would.
I built Unlocked as an R&D platform that turns everyday objects into media triggers through RFID technology embedded invisibly inside custom-fabricated bases. Place a trophy on the base and a highlight reel starts playing. Place a book and its author begins speaking. Place a beverage can and a campaign video unlocks alongside nutritional information. The object is the interface. The technology is completely hidden. The experience feels almost like magic — not because it's complicated, but because it's so simple that the complexity disappears.
The Heineken deployment is the clearest demonstration of what this system can do at its most invisible. I embedded an RFID reader inside a custom-built table with a pure maple finish, machined to match the surface so precisely that there was no visible indication anything was there. Heineken's team placed their beverage can on the table in a natural way and the experience activated. No one in the room knew what had happened technically. They just knew something had responded to them.
Unlocked is currently active in multiple deployments including a private white-glove client activation. The platform is designed to scale to any context: a retail environment, a museum, a stadium, a home. Wherever objects and people exist together, there's a story waiting to be unlocked.
