Character Creator

Character Creator was an add-on to the Smiledrop system made in 2024 with Smilesoft.dev. Character creator let guests at an event become someone else on camera. You stepped up to what looked like a mirror, it scanned your face, arms and hands, and a character moved exactly when you moved, so the photos and video you took were of you with your body augmented in real time. It ran inside the Smiledrop app, which tied several stations around an event together, each one a different interactive experience. Every station added a clip, and by the time you left they’d all been edited together into one take-away video of your night. It was built white-glove for a handful of clients, with the characters and backgrounds made for each one, whether that was a brand’s mascot, their IP or a custom character. AR booths already existed and most of them felt clunky. The point of this one was to disappear, so all that was left was you, as the character.
