CompUSA.Live: 2017 - 2018
I was producing and creating shows at 8ball.tv, NYC's 24-hour public access channel online, when compusa.live was born. It wasn't made for an institution. It was made because the idea demanded to exist.
compusa.live grew directly out of #LIVINGROOMTODAY, taking everything I had proven about dissolving the line between audience and artist and pushing it into live theatre. But where #LIVINGROOMTODAY connected people across geography, compusa.live collapsed something harder to define: the line between what was real and what was staged. You never knew if what you were watching was scripted or spontaneous, performance or accident, backstage or center stage. The stage was everywhere. The stage was nowhere. That uncertainty wasn't a bug. It was the whole experience.
The platform gave performers and audiences the same ambiguous ground to stand on. Your presence wasn't acknowledged. It was required.
The New Museum later acquired it into their permanent collection.
